Project Facts
The 9.03m diameter hard rock TBM (TBM Caiyun) developed by CREG is used in the Gaoligong Mountain Tunnel of Dali-Ruili Railway in Yunnan, China. The Gaoligong Mountain tunnel is located in the western part of Yunnan Province with a total length of 34.538km, with max. overburden of 1155m and an average overburden of 800m. The tunnel inlet section passes through 18 kinds of lithology and 12 faults, the tunnel exit passes through 8 kinds of lithology and 7 faults, in which the geological conditions are complex and variable.
TBM Caiyun represents technical breakthroughs in key technologies such as variable section excavation, rock burst prevention and control, rapid tunnelling in faults, high geothermal environment, water ingress prevention and control, with online real-time advanced geological prediction system, ventilation and cooling system and several other new technologies. On August 1st, 2017, the TBM finished FAT in Kunming China Railway Electric Construction Assembly Workshop.
